Peace on Earth

Here is the wall hanging that I made for my Vet's office.  I used my Peace on Earth pattern, but left out the words and added a black cat.  There is a big black cat in the office that always comes out to greet me, and he was friends with Milo, my rescue kitten that I adopted from them.  I was able to find lots of great related fabrics in my stash, including the red paw print fabric for Santa and the dog bone print in the small border.  The pattern can be found on my etsy site.https://www.etsy.com/shop/coolcatsandquilts?ref=hdr_shop_menu

Frozen - Quilted Slippers and Tote Bag, Jack & Jill Slippers & Tote Bag

Frozen seems to be all the rage these days, so I decided to make some Frozen themed Jack & Jill Slippers and Tote Bags.  Well, seems Frozen fabrics are a little hard to come by, but I was able to find Frozen themed ribbons.  It just so happens that I, like so many other quilters have a vast inventory of fabrics.  I was able to put together some fabrics that I do think go nicely with the ribbons, one in blues and one in pinks.  I will be giving them to my little nieces, hope they like them!  The pattern has both this style, the girl's, and a boy's style of slipper and the tote bag.  The pattern has full sized templates for both styles and all sizes from child 5 - 13 and youth 1 - 4.  The pattern can be found on my etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/coolcatsandquilts?ref=hdr_shop_menu

Quilted Slippers, Jack & Jill Slippers & Tote Bag from Cool Cat Creations

This is my latest pattern, people have been asking for a children's pattern and it is finally here!  The pattern is designed using a Bali Snap, or a Charm Pack, that is 40 - 5" squares of fabric.  You will get the bag and the slippers with 1 charm pack.  On the very little sizes you can probably get 2 pair of slippers and the bag.
The pattern has full sized templates for 2 styles, boy's and girl's in sizes children's 5 - 13 and in youth's sizes 1 - 4, plus the instructions for the bag.  This would be a great little set to take to Grandma's house for the weekend!

The slippers make great Christmas gifts, and you still have time to make them for Christmas!  The pattern will be widely available shortly, and on my etsy site now.  Click on link below. https://www.etsy.com/shop/coolcatsandquilts?ref=hdr_shop_menu

Quilted Slippers for Men, Papa Bear Slippers & Travel Bag from Cool Cat Creations

Here is the newest slipper pattern, Papa Bear Slippers & Travel Bag.  These slippers are for the man in your life, your husband, brother, son, or just a friend.  The pattern has full-sized templates for men's sizes 7-14.  The slippers have removable insoles and a slipper gripper fabric on the bottom.
The men's and the lady's slippers are made using a foam interfacing as the foundation, and the foam interfacing in the insoles as well.  This makes them a little thicker, but very light weight.  The foam is easy to use and sews up fantastic.
The bag can be used to carry the slippers in, or can be used as a shaving kit.  The pattern is designed to use a Bali Pop, or Jelly Roll.  You can get 2 or 3 sets from 1 roll, depending on what size you are making.  For those that do not have a pre-cut, you can use scrap strips.
This pattern is available for all quilt shops, just check with your local quilt shop to see if they have it, or will bring it in.  If not, here is a link to my site where you can purchase any of my patterns.  https://www.etsy.com/shop/coolcatsandquilts?ref=pr_shop_more

Quilted Snappy Slippers - Happy July 4th America!

I do hope that all of my American friends and family have a wonderful 4th of July!  The weather may not be the best on the East Coast with Hurricane Arthur on it's way up the coast, headed toward me!
There have already been things cancelled here in the Maritimes, they are thinking there may be tornadoes to go along with the hurricane!
On another note, here are some Snappy Slippers & Travel Bag that I made with red, white and blue fabrics just for the 4th of July holiday.  Happy Holiday!
Remember, I do have tutorials for the slippers on this blog to help with your pattern.  Shop owners can see my distributors on my website at:  www.coolcatcretions.net   For those that are not near a quilt shop you can order them here https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/coolcatsandquilts?ref=hdr_shop_menu

Quilted Wedding Shoes - Snappy Slippers & Travel Bag

The Snappy Slippers & Travel Bag are so versatile!  I have just finished a fun pair that I made for a friend's daughter that is getting married soon.  Since they are made on a foam interfacing, and have a slipper gripper bottom they are very much like shoes.  This is a great wedding gift that she can wear
for her wedding, or for her honeymoon, in the hotel.
It would be a fun project to make all of your bridesmaids slippers too!  I hand beaded these slippers, something I do like to do, I find it soothing. They are a fast project compared to the beaded wedding gowns that I used to make!
For those of you with quilt shops, I have several distributors including Checker Distributors.  For those who are near a quilt shop, ask them to bring in the pattern and if they will not you can find them at this link:   https://www.etsy.com/shop/coolcatsandquilts?ref=pr_shop_more

Snappy Slipper & Travel Bag Tutorial - Part 2

If you have not read part 1, you should do so now.  So, now you have the tops pieced and the lining ready to sew.  Place the 2 pieces together and stitch along the top as shown.  Then clip this seam and press toward the lining.  Now stitch a seam about 1/8th of an inch from the seam, this is under stitching and will help keep the lining turned down when you top stitch.  If you are looking for the pattern and can not find it in your local quilt shop, you can buy it here https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/coolcatsandquilts?ref=hdr_shop_menu

Press the seam flat, pressing the lining to the inside, now topstitch.  Now you will crossover the tops, remember that one is to the left and one is to the right.  Now stitch them in the seam allowance to hold together.

Now put your soles together, follow the directions for this in your pattern.  You have 3 layers, pellon fusible fleece, lining and slipper gripper.

Now you will attach the soles to the tops.  Make sure to line up the right top with the right sole and the left top with the left sole.

  1. Now take the sole and place it on top of the slipper.  The slipper gripper will be touching the pieced part of your slippers.  Pin in place, starting by matching the tabs and the center fronts and center backs, then pin all the way around.  If you wish you could baste this seam first.  Now stitch all the way around the slippers, if you like you can stitch again with a small zig zag stitch and cut away any excess to clean up the seam.

  2. After you have finished stitching this seam, turn it right side out.  If the slipper is too wide for your foot, you can take it in on the sides, not  the toe and heel, this will change the size.  Now finish your insoles according to the directions in the pattern, then add the insoles.

Snappy Slippers & Travel Bag from Cool Cat Creations

Just a short post, thought I would show you lots of different Snappy Slippers.  The Snappy Slippers & Travel Bag is made using 1 package of Charm Squares for both the bag and the slippers.  The slippers are made with a foam interfacing, there are several on the market, one is Soft and Stable byAnnies.  The insoles are also made using the foam, and are removable.  The bottom of the slippers has slipper gripper, this is a non-slip fabric.
For shop owners I have several pattern distributors including Checker Distributors, they are all listed on my website: http://www.coolcatcreations.net/
Please check your local quilt shops for this pattern, most quilt shops will bring in a pattern if you ask.    If you can't find it at your local quilt shop, you can buy it here https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/coolcatsandquilts?ref=hdr_shop_menu
